Living Well Part II
62Exercise should be an important part of everyone's life. There are so many kinds of exercise equipment and so many routines that it is sometimes overwhelming. Everyone knows that they need to workout their legs, core, upper body, and arms, but most people forget to exercise their face.
I was a singer in high school. I had a choir class everyday, fourth period for four straight years. My choir director/teacher taught me a very important lesson that I did not fully appreciate until a few years later. He always made us exercise our faces. Right after high school, a coworker of mine, who was about 30 years older than me and still had great skin with no wrinkles, told me that her secret was facial exercises. I have been continuing to do the same routine that I learned in high school ever since she told me that.
Facial exercises really do help. I wanted to write this post for some time now, but keep getting side tracked with research about the subject. There have been studies that show how well the exercises work and books written about it. One of the most helpful books is The Yoga Face by Annelise Hagen. See the video below for an interview/sample of Annelise and some of her facial exercises.
The other area I want to mention is for the women. I saw an "As seen on TV" type commercial, a piece of exercise equipment that is like a bar that has two sliders. Each side moves so the bar gets longer and shorter. The point is that it is supposed to work the muscles under and behind the bust in order to firm and life the bust line. I cannot seem to find the commercial on youtube, though.
Due to not being able to find it again, and not wanting to spend money on it anyways, I decided to try something a bit different. I do have a thigh master (see picture) so I decided to try something. Instead of using it for only my thighs, I squezzed it with my arms out in front of me. I repeated the movement about 10 or 15 times. The next day I could feel my chest muscles, like after a workout. I realized that I was right, the thigh master achieves the same basic results as that bar mentioned eairlier.

I do try to get some exercise daily. Today was an easy no brainer exercise day because I had to shovel my driveway. But what I love about this hub is the part about the yoga facial exercises and the video demonstration. Thanks for bringing this awareness to my face which is smiling at you now! :) Great Hub.
